Abstract

RESUMEN: Este documento contiene información sobre el desarrollo del proyecto de investigación "PROPUESTA DE UN PROTOTIPO QUE PERMITA A PERSONAS CON DISCAPACIDAD VISUAL LA LECTURA DE TEXTOS UTILIZANDO INTELIGENCIA ARTIFICIAL PARA LA BIBLIOTECA DE LA FACULTAD DE ORIENTE." que fue realizado como trabajo de graduación para optar al grado de Ingeniero de Sistema Informático. La Investigación fue realizada debido a la problemática encontrada que indicaba que las personas con discapacidad visual cuentan con una casi inexistente ayuda para nivelar sus condiciones en materia académica, a nivel superior, en comparación con alguien que no padece discapacidad visual. Se realizaron diversas pruebas que concluyeron en la necesidad de desarrollar un prototipo de asistente académico que sirva como puente de unión entre la información y la persona con discapacidad visual. El prototipo o “asistente” cuenta con tres áreas de servicio: Lectura de textos físicos, Lectura de textos digitales y Búsquedas en línea; tomando como base las necesidades básicas que un estudiante promedio de nivel superior debe suplir para estudiar y prepararse académicamente. El prototipo está diseñado para ser utilizado de manera regular y su uso se pretende que esté al alcance de todo aquel que lo necesite. ABSTRACT: This document contains information on the development of the research project "PROPOSAL OF A PROTOTYPE THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE WITH VISUAL DISABILITIES TO READ TEXTS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR THE LIBRARY OF THE FACULTY OF ORIENTE." which was carried out as a graduation project to qualify for the degree of Computer System Engineer. The research was carried out due to the problem found, which indicated that people with visual disabilities have almost no help to level their academic conditions, at a higher level, compared to someone who does not suffer from visual impairment. Various tests were carried out that concluded in the need to develop an academic assistant prototype that serves as a bridge between the information and the person with visual impairment. The prototype or "assistant" has three service areas: Reading of physical texts, Reading of digital texts and Online searches; based on the basic needs that an average high-level student must meet to study and prepare academically. The prototype is designed to be used on a regular basis and its use is intended to be available to everyone who needs it.
