Abstract

RESUMEN: En la actualidad se observa a diario en las unidades de salud un sin número de personas que llegan a consultar, entre éstas se puede apreciar mujeres en estado de embarazo siendo la mayoría primigestas, así como también madres con niños en brazos asistiendo a sus controles. Es aquí donde resulta considerable educar a la madre sobre lactancia materna, tomando en cuenta su nivel educativo, sus creencias, sus actitudes, su estado de salud, económico, pues de todo ésto depende la madre para que se informe a cerca de los beneficios y ventajas de la lactancia natural, cuya base fundamental es aportar factores nutricionales e inmunológicos a lo largo del período de lactancia, y que se le dá la principal importancia en los primeros seis meses de vida por ser el único alimento que debe ingerir un bebé, y que se puede continuar después con otros alimentos hasta los dieciocho meses de edad o hasta los dos años de vida. ABSTRACT: At present, a number of people who come to consult are observed daily in health units, among these women in a state of pregnancy can be seen, most of them primigravid, as well as mothers with children in their arms attending their controls. This is where it is important to educate the mother about breastfeeding, taking into account her educational level, her beliefs, her attitudes, her health, economic status, since the mother depends on all this to be informed about the benefits and advantages of natural breastfeeding, whose fundamental basis is to provide nutritional and immunological factors throughout the breastfeeding period, and which is given the main importance in the first six months of life because it is the only food that a baby should eat, and that can be continued later with other foods until eighteen months of age or until two years of life.
