Abstract

RESUMEN: La neumonía es una enfermedad muy frecuente en los menores de 5 años, se considera la principal causa de mortalidad infantil en todo el mundo, los factores de riesgo relacionados a esta enfermedad se presentan en factores modificables y no modificables a su vez en individuales, ambientales, y sociales. El principal objetivo de esta revisión es identificar los factores de riesgo que influyen en el desarrollo de neumonía y medidas necesarias para la prevención en menores de 5 años por lo cual se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en Google Académico, SCiELO, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Pub Med, y ELSEVIER limitada a textos completos, publicados entre los años 2019 a 2023, en su mayoría en idioma español y 12 en idioma inglés. Entre los factores relacionados con el individuo se encuentran: sexo masculino, niños que no han recibido lactancia materna exclusiva durante los primeros 6 meses de vida, ausencia de inmunización, estado nutricional deficiente. En segundo lugar, entre los factores de riesgo ambientales tenemos: vivir en zona rural y en hacinamiento, deficiente higiene individual y del hogar, presencia de animales y cambio climático. Por ultimo los factores sociales que son: bajo nivel socioeconómico, madre adolescente y con pobre escolaridad. ABSTRACT;Pneumonia is a very common disease in children under 5 years of age, it is considered the main cause of child mortality worldwide, the risk factors related to this disease occur in modifiable and non-modifiable factors, as well as individual and environmental factors, and social. The main objective of this review is to identify the risk factors that influence the development of pneumonia and necessary measures for prevention in children under 5 years of age, for which a bibliographic search was carried out in Google Scholar, SCiELO, Virtual Health Library, Pub Med, and ELSEVIER limited to full texts, published between the years 2019 to 2023, mostly in Spanish and 12 in English. Among the factors related to the individual are: male sex, children who have not received exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months of life, absence of immunization, poor nutritional status. Secondly, among the environmental risk factors we have: living in rural areas and in overcrowding, poor individual and home hygiene, presence of animals and climate change. Finally, the social factors are: low socioeconomic level, teenage mother and poor schooling.
