Abstract

RESUMEN: El Río Grande de San Miguel, es el segundo Río más largo en la República de El Salvador, se encuentra ubicado en el oriente del país y tiene un área de captación de 2,247 km2 aproximadamente. La cuenca del Río Grande posee, en su centro, a la ciudad de San Miguel, que se considera como el núcleo de la Región Oriental. Además, juega un papel muy importante en el desahogue del drenaje de la Ciudad de San Miguel, dado su cercanía a la ciudad, este ha servido durante años como el centro de recolección del cien por ciento de las aguas residuales, que ha venido degradando el sistema ecológico y el medio ambiente y se manifiesta en la contaminación de las aguas. ABSTRACT: The Río Grande of San Miguel, is the second longest river in the Republic of El Salvador, is located in the east of the country and has a catchment area of approximately 2,247 km2. The Rio Grande basin has, in its center, the city of San Miguel, which is considered the nucleus of the Eastern Region. In addition, it plays a very important role in the discharge of the drainage of the City of San Miguel, given its proximity to the city, this has served for years as the collection center for one hundred percent of the wastewater, which has been degrading the ecological system and the environment and manifests itself in water pollution.
